As a qualified teacher I have been able to put my experience to use both as an employment law lecturer and tutor for a range of learners.
I am committed to the learning process. One of my activities is as a regulatory Training Contract Monitor which gives me the opportunity to meet with solicitors to discuss and monitor the process of training solicitors to qualify as required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
I work part time in the Law Clinic, a part of the Law School, as a solicitor and lecturer supervising undergraduate students studying their Clinic Option Module, a blend of advising, case management and representation for our clients in courts and tribunals, as well as academic research and legal practice and theory. I also take part in the evening advice rota.
I am a personal tutor and marker on the Advanced Certificate in Employment Law. I regularly provide distance learning support for a group of 10-12 Human Resources managers who are taking this certificate course. I have also taken part in the design and delivery of examination preparation tutorials and revision workshops
I taught the employment law elective to part time students taking the Bar Vocational Course from 2006-2008. I also supervise and mark students taking their LLM in Employment Law Practice, which was introduced in 2007
I taught the employment law module on the MA in Advice and Paralegal from 2000-2004. This included setting and first marking the examination as approved by the external examiner. I also taught the employment law elective on the Legal Practice Course from 2005-2007.
